Dear COHI Community,
This year’s World Refugee Day fell on our Father’s Day.
In a year that most of us spent cooped up in our houses, the number of people forced to flee their homes grew at a higher rate than before - with about 11 million new displaced people in 2020, reaching a total of 82 million people worldwide. That means that more than 1% of the world’s population is displaced, and it’s only increasing.
So when we thought of our fathers last week, COHI made sure we also thought of the fathers who have been forced to face seemingly insurmountable obstacles in order to simply keep their children alive. We thought of the fathers who have lost children to war, starvation, and illnesses. We thought of the children who will grow up never knowing their fathers. We thought of the children who will never get to grow up to be fathers.
And then we got back to work. Will you join us?
In gratitude,
COHI Staff & Board
