Maternal and newborn health program along the U.S./Mexico border
As the country that created the very conditions they're fleeing from, the US has a moral imperative to provide for mothers now floundering at our borders. COHI has been caring for mothers and children in this complex humanitarian crisis, as well as others around the globe, for 14 years. For the last four years along the Texas border, we've grown all too familiar with the silence, struggle, and fear that these migrant mothers carry with them.
Our immediate goals are as follows: Provision of long-term, trauma-informed providers and specialists to care for the caravan participants who are members of the GTLBQI community; Provision of long-term, trauma-informed providers and specialists to care for women and children who are members of the caravan; and Provision of essential supplies and meds specific to the needs of the members of the LGBTQI community, people living with HIV/AIDS, pregnant women, and children with special needs.
This crisis is not going away-these families will need our care, our attention, and our support for many years to come. COHI is in this fight for the long haul and that is why we need your help. We are raising $100,000 to provide further valuable support to families being cared for at the clinics spanning thousands of miles of the US/Mexico border by COHI and our allies.
