Dear COHI Family,
We are reaching out to you with an important update about our programming with asylum seekers along the Texas-Mexico border. As you know, most of our work has been based in McAllen, TX with some recent programming happening in San Antonio. However, recent changes in the situation at the border have caused us to reevaluate our strategy.
The current administration's Remain in Mexico policy, along with the recent announcement of the refugee admissions ceiling for 2020, has meant a huge shift in the situation at the border - with many more families forced to pass through other points of entry, or even remain stranded on the Mexican side of the border. As a rapid response organization, COHI is always committed to implementing programming that aligns with the reality at hand.
That's why we're expanding our partnership with Sueños Sin Fronteras de Tejas (SSFTX) to include funding work in new areas along both sides of the border. We'll be working with them later this week to do a needs assessment in these new regions, in order to ensure high quality health programming that is as effective as possible.
Will you join us in making sure asylum seeking families receive the care they need, no matter where they are?
Love,
COHI
