Over the past month, reports have continued to come out detailing the abuse that asylum seekers at the Texas-Mexico border have experienced while in US custody. At COHI, we are all too familiar with this narrative: women and children being harmed while in vulnerable situations. As an emergency response organization, COHI understands the pervasive and entrenched nature of this abuse against populations experiencing crisis. That's why we are steadfast in our resolve to consistently show up for this at-risk population.
COHI is dedicated to creating safe spaces, that are staffed with linguistically and culturally competent health care professionals, where the health needs of migrants can be addressed with care and respect. We are committed to staffing our partner asylum clinics, down in McAllen, with midwives and clinicians who are ready to get to work. We just need your help in getting them there. Join us in helping keep mamas and babies safe by supporting our work with asylum seekers along the border. Thanks to Global Giving's generosity, now through April 12th your donation will be matched at 50% - making all the difference for the families we care for.
