Dear friends,
It is my greatest pleasure to share with you the latest updates on the progress of our project at PROVIDE INTERNATIONAL. The construction has started in earnest.we have so far procured the neccesary materials which are on site and all the neccesary approvals for the construction from relevant authorities including the architectoral plan which has been done and endorsed by relevant authorities.
But for the community, mainly our vulnerable mothers the sight of this construction is bringing much joy because they know there is a great relief to them in few months to come.
This month on 8th march 2023,we shall be visited by our First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto to oversee our project progress in the slums and the positive impacts we have created so far.we are very much happy as a community to host her and we do hope to share with you the experience including photos which we believe you may like in our next report.
Recently,i happened to meet Caroline who is a community health volunteer in Nairobi slums for a long time. She clearly understands the challenges and pain that pregnant women go through when they go to the government facility where she works. She narrated to me how it will be important that this maternity unit is completed and opened up early enough to give relief to our vulnerable mothers.
Caroline narrated to me how one night a young woman was brought in the dead of the night, she was due to give birth but the facility did not have power and enough staffs to carry out delivery services. Only two nurses were around to serve over fifty mothers who were yet to deliver and who were all in Labour pain.It was quite painful to see the unbearable scenes of suffering mothers who could not be attended to properly and on time due to lack of staffs and proper theatre machines.
But these are not rare cases, everyday pregnant women are forced to deliver at home becuase of the distance to the health facility, delays of the mother to seek medical attention, delays in recognising danger signs and lack of qualified health workers. PROVIDE INTERNATIONAL maternity unit seeks to reduce this incidences, by bringing the health facility closer to the community and give them the best services they deserve without any discrimination.
We thank you all for the support that have made all of this progress possible, but the struggle isn’t over.Kayole slums in Nairobi city is still one of the most challenging places in the world to become a mother, and we highly need more support for our cause. When potential supporters hear us talking about why they should make a donation today, they listen. But when your friends and family hear you talk about our work as someone who is already a supporter and knows that we are making a difference, they’ll act.
we do hope your contributions and support towards this project is going to change our community and save our poor mothers during deliveries.
