Our project will construct a safe, permanent community office for Rural Smiles Foundation to provide critical support to vulnerable women, girls, youth, and human rights defenders in rural Uganda. This office will ensure secure access to counselling, empowerment programs, and rights services without fear of eviction or disruption.
Rural Smiles Foundation faces repeated evictions and insecurity due to its human rights and community empowerment work. Without a permanent office, women, girls, youth, and human rights defenders lack a safe place to access support, counselling, digital rights services, and community programs. A stable, secure office is urgently needed to protect services for thousands.
By constructing a safe, permanent two-storey community office, the Rural Smiles Foundation will have a stable base to deliver essential services. The new centre will host GBV support, legal aid, youth and women empowerment programs, digital rights training, and community dialogues, ensuring uninterrupted, accessible support for vulnerable groups in Kibaale District.
The office will provide a permanent safe space for over 20,000 people each year to access justice, GBV support, rights education, digital safety assistance, and economic empowerment. By ending eviction threats, the project strengthens long-term community resilience, protects vulnerable populations, and ensures continuity of critical human rights and development programs.
