Candidates from Kachiuru primary school who sat for their final exams last year and performed quite well were lucky to get sponsorship from various well-wishers and all of them joined different high schools in Meru County. Necofa together with our partner Friends of Kenya Schools and Wildlife (FKSW) were able to offer scholarship to one student from the area by the name Naomi Ntinyari where we will be supporting 80% of her school fees every term. The girls was from Kachiuru primary school. Parents from this school were very happy to see their children join high school and especially the girl child. Educating girl child from this region is slowly being taken positively and literate parents are really encouraging the community to consider educating their girls.
The school kitchen project was successfully finished and it is now in use and the feeding programme is proceeding on well and attracting more children from the village to join the school. The headteacher has reported that the school population is growing and they are looking forward for more development. They currently have few permanent classrooms and they are still fundraising for more classrooms and desks to improve on current learning environment. We thank our partners and all well-wishers for their noble support towards Kachiuru Primary School.
