The situation in Kachiuru has been tough during the covid 19 pandemic. Lifestyle has been affected by the pandemic as many community members have not been earning any come as they used to earn before the pandemic. Many could get casual work and at the end of the day put food on the table for the families but things changed to the worse. Businesses have been affected as well worsening the already worse situation. Learners have been at home since March with more and more challenges. Necofa and our partners have continued to support the community with food stuff and hygiene soap since the pandemic hit the country. Thank you to our partners for their continued support to our communities. In August, the ministry of education encouraged school teachers to consider teaching learners and doing revision works at village level but this did not happen in many parts of the country for various reasons. In our case we supported the idea of teachers conducting revisions with the nearby learners and of course observing protective measures given by the ministry of health. In support of the idea we initiated a learning program in Kachiuru School and encouraged grade seven and eight learners to take advantage of that and participate in the learning sessions. We supported them with face masks, revision materials and we have been appreciating the teachers with a monthly fee as they are not employed by the government hence not earning any income since schools were closed in mid March. Once more we express our sincere gratitude to our partners and well wishers. The Kachiuru project has been tough and without your support it could have been even tougher. Thank you for choosing to walk the tough journey with us and the Kachiuru community as we request for further support to enable us achieve our goal.
