Natural disasters, particularly floods, constitute a growing threat in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The areas of Kalehe, Kindu, Bukavu, and Kinshasa regularly experience flooding caused by heavy rainfall, unplanned settlement expansion, deforestation, soil erosion, and the effects of climate change.
