Si Asha Foundation seeks to expand its vocational workshops, where 47 young adults with intellectual disabilities currently receive training and support. Through cooking, crafts, painting, product making and horticulture, they build autonomy, self-esteem, routines and pre-employment skills. Expanding the space in Hetauda will allow us to serve many more in the coming years. This is justice: the right to learn, work and be included. Help us build a future where no one is left behind.
In Nepal, young people with intellectual disabilities face deep social stigma and no access to vocational training or employment pathways. After finishing special education, many remain at home without opportunities to develop skills, earn income or gain independence. Our current workshop infrastructure is small to meet growing demand, leaving qualified young adults on a waiting list simply because there is no safe and adequate space to welcome them and support their transition into adult life.
The project envisions the construction of a new building next to the existing educational center in Hetauda. This project will expand our vocational workshop in Hetauda by building two new classrooms, increasing capacity from 24 to 48 students in the center and 72 across all workshops. The new space will also include a physiotherapy room and a kitchen-dining area, creating a safe, structured environment where young adults can build autonomy, skills and inclusion, dignity and future opportunities
We will serve 72 young adults across all centers, opening 24 new opportunities for training, autonomy and employment pathways. More than 150 families will benefit from reduced caregiving burdens and greater economic stability. Long term, this project will strengthen an inclusive model in Nepal, proving that young people with intellectual disabilities can learn, work and actively contribute to their communities. We have already hired two former students, setting a pioneering example in Nepal.
