Build Haiti's First National Robotics `

By Lauren Lombard | Executive Director

Reporting Period: May–August 2026

This has been one of the most significant milestones in the history of robotics education in Haiti.

In May, we hosted Haiti's first-ever FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competition, bringing together students, mentors, educators, families, and community leaders to celebrate what young people can accomplish when they are given access to opportunity.

The competition featured five FTC teams and three XRP teams, with more than 500 people attending throughout the day. For all of these students, it was the first time they had ever competed in a robotics tournament.

What made the event even more meaningful was that it was almost entirely student-led. Our students managed field operations, assisted teams, welcomed guests, solved technical challenges, and helped coordinate the event from start to finish. They demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and confidence that inspired everyone in attendance.

For Haiti, this competition represented much more than a single event.

It proved that a national robotics ecosystem is possible.

Over the past several years, Haitian students have represented their country internationally through the FIRST Global Challenge. Those experiences showed them what was possible, but participation remained limited to a small number of students. By bringing FIRST Tech Challenge to Haiti, we have taken the first step toward creating a sustainable program that allows many more young people to develop engineering, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving skills close to home.

The excitement generated by the event has been incredible. Schools, educators, parents, and community leaders have expressed interest in becoming involved, and we are already working with new mentors and partner schools as we prepare for the next season.

Your support helped make this milestone possible.

From purchasing equipment and building the competition field to training students and mentors, every contribution played a role in creating an event that many believed could not happen in Haiti. Together, we demonstrated that Haitian students can compete at the highest levels of STEM education when they are given the opportunity.

This competition is only the beginning.

Over the next several years, our goal is to expand robotics programs to additional schools across Haiti, train local mentors, increase the number of FTC teams, and create a sustainable pathway that allows students to progress from introductory robotics through national competition and eventually onto the international stage.

How You Can Help

The momentum is real, but so is the need. As interest in robotics continues to grow across Haiti, we need additional resources to equip new teams, train mentors, purchase robotics kits, expand into more schools, and ensure that talented students are never turned away because of financial barriers.

If you believe in the potential of Haiti's next generation of innovators, we invite you to continue this journey with us. A donation of any size helps us reach more students and build a stronger national robotics program.

Even if you're unable to give today, you can make a tremendous difference by sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, colleagues, and networks. Every share introduces more people to the incredible talent and determination of Haiti's young people and helps us find new supporters who believe in their future.

Thank you for investing in these students and for believing that innovation, education, and opportunity can help shape a brighter future for Haiti. We are excited to share the next chapter with you.
