Building Classrooms for Zvamaida Primary School

Dear GlobalGiving Donors to our project

Firstly, a belated happy and healthy new year to all our donors of the Building Classrooms for Zvamaida Primary School project.

Last month there was a bit of a disaster at the School, when one of the two outside classrooms was blown down in a storm, which as you can imagine is a big blow to those children that were being taught under the protection of it. Of course, it was only held up by wooden stakes with a thatched type roofing, but nevertheless it was serving a purpose; not an ideal one, but that is why this Classroom project is so important.

Funding for the project is coming along, but slowly at the moment. We now have our application submitted to Rotary Foundation for some funding for the project. As you will know we are not only seeking funding from the GlobalGiving platform, but other sources as well, including Rotary clubs in our area and around the world.  

Importantly, providing we receive approval for funding from Rotary Foundation, they will also match to 50 percent the amount we have raised so far, and importantly any further funds we raise!

In simplistic terms, and for easy example, if you have donated/or going to donate the equivalent of $100 dollars or pounds, then that is increased by 50 percent by Rotary Foundation to make it $150 dollars/pounds.

The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

You have already donated and thank you so much for that, and if it is possible for you to do so, then another donation would be greatly appreciated. Don’t forget, you can also make monthly donations automatically when you sign onto the GlobalGiving web page which currently is offering 100 percent matching on your first payment - maximum $200 - subject to the donation running for 4 months

Hello to all our GlobalGiving Donors

I thought it would be a good time to update you with how our fund raising is progressing. Not surprisingly, things slowed down after the big push during the graduation period at the end of September, but donations are still coming in. We also continue to raise funds from groups and events.

You will likely have noted that we have had donations into GlobalGiving of $6,000 now, which is encouraging. Overall, we now have around $7,500 towards the project.

Let me now tell you about what is coming up for 'Giving Tuesday' on Tuesday 3rd December. It is a bonus day when each donation receives a bonus to the project. Also, it is a good time to start a monthly donation plan, as providing your time on the plan is at least 4 months payments, you get 100 per cent bonus on your first donation.

Whilst, I very much appreciate your donation to-date, and would always welcome a further donation, I wonder if you could help by letting your facebook friends know about our project. If you do this, then it expands out network of people that could be potential future donors, To share our project and the 'Giving Tuesday' campaign this can be done by going to the Zvamaida Primary School Project, and sharing the post about it. PS - The need for delivering this project is urgent. Only this week, one of the straw shelters that is used for teaching - it is open sided, was blown down.
