Build A Permanent Hub to Empower Communities

Thanks to your generous support, we were able to repair four community boreholes serving more than 2,000 people across four rural villages in Uganda, restoring access to a reliable source of clean and safe water for families who had been struggling with non-functional water points.

Before the repairs, many community members were forced to depend on ponds, streams, and other unsafe water sources. Women and children carried the greatest burden, walking long distances to collect water for drinking, cooking, and household use. The situation also increased the risk of waterborne diseases and made it more difficult for children to attend school regularly.

Your support enabled Development Alert to work with communities to identify the damaged water points, organize repairs, and restore them to service. Community members participated in the process and were encouraged to take responsibility for protecting and maintaining the boreholes.

For more than 2,000 people, the restored water sources mean more than clean drinking water. They mean improved hygiene, better health, reduced time spent collecting water, and greater opportunities for children and families.
