The current bridge in Sau village, Kien Thanh commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province being seriously degraded and damaged. It leads to difficulties, danger when traveling, threatens the life of 2200 local citizens in localities, including 500 children and students. Thus, this project will build a new reinforced concrete bridge to solve above problems. Local people under technical support of local authorities, directly participate in planning, managing, implementing and monitoring the work.
In 1993, Sau village was supported finance to build a bridge across a stream to help their travel to be safer and more convenient, especially in fooding seasons. However, under the impact of traveling, times, storms and floods, the bridge has been seriously degraded and damaged. So far, people still travel via this bridge as it is only way to go to the central regions. This provoked difficulties, danger for travel and threatened the safety and life of 2200 people, including children, students.
Under the technical support of RIC and local authorities, local people directly participate in situation surveying, planning (both technique and finance), managing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the work. They will make a reinforced concrete bridge with a length of 10 m, width: 3 m, girder: 0.38 m, its covered surface: 0.07m. From this, the travel will be more convenient and local people's safety and life, especially children, students are completely guaranteed.
Conditions for traveling, agricultural production of local people (including teachers, children, students) will be improved remarkably. Additionally, their safety and life will be secure. Through project, local people are practiced the community management approach in which they are owners/drivers in their development process. Thus, their self-management ability will be enhanced. They will continue to apply it to implement other community development projects in their locality in the future.
