In 2024, a local family in Naggalama, rural Uganda, purchased land and began building a nursery school using their personal savings. With the foundation and partial walls completed, the project now needs support to finish construction. There are no affordable nearby schools, forcing children to travel far or miss early education. Completing this school will provide safe, accessible early learning for local children and strengthen the community's future.
Children in Naggalama, Lutengo village, Uganda lack access to affordable early childhood education. There are no nearby nursery schools, forcing families to send young children long distances or keep them at home. Travel costs and school fees are too high for many households. As a result, children miss critical early learning that prepares them for primary school and long-term success.
This project will complete construction of a community nursery school by funding roofing materials, remaining building supplies, and labor. Once finished, the school will open as a daycare and early learning center, providing safe, affordable education close to home. Local leadership will manage enrollment while HELPING CHILDREN INC supports oversight, transparency, and launch readiness.
The completed school will give dozens of children each year access to quality early education, improving literacy, confidence, and readiness for primary school. Families will save travel time and costs, and the community will gain a permanent learning center that supports future generations, local employment, and stronger educational outcomes.
