Girl Determined is working to ensure that adolescent girls from conflict-affected areas have the chance to shape the course of their futures through weekly leadership and life skills programs. Programs have been tried and tested over the past decade, and girls in communities across the country have demonstrated their desire to participate. Help a girl out!
The issues faced by adolescent girls - restrictive gender roles, poverty, dangerous labor, violence and early marriage - are exacerbated for girls displaced throughout the past four years of civil conflict. Often without the land that their families once had to farm, girls are under increasing pressure to drop-out of school and attempt dangerous migration to support their families needs. Some girls never make it back home.
This project engages a proven, two-year leadership program designed by Girl Determined and enhanced for the needs of the girls in conflict areas, in order that teenage girls gain critical skills and confidence to assert their needs and develop plans to improve girls' lives.
