This project will support the disables in Anambra State, including those in the rehabilitation centers, providing them with essential needs and helping them to break the cycle of hunger and uplift their well-being. It is estimated that about 25 million people living in Nigeria are disabled and these people with disabilities, are more likely to experience extreme poverty in Nigeria than those without any disability.
Persons with disabilities in Nigeria persistently face stigma, discrimination and barriers to accessing good healthcare, education, employment and economic opportunities. Most common of these disabilities are visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical impairment, intellectual impairment and communication impairment. The increasing growth in the number of disabled persons has been directed linked to the lack of good medical facilities and enhanced systems in Nigeria.
We will be visiting the rehabilitation centers to support those therein and also supporting the disables across the communities, protecting their rights, helping them to achieve their goals and have a sustainable source of income, in order to be able to take good care of themselves and their families.
Supporting these people can lead to transformative changes, creating a more inclusive, equitable and empowered society with lasting benefits for them, the country and the world at large.
