Dear Family/Donors,
Our School is turning 30. Do we need schools for sustainability? What can be achieved in 30 years?
We have welcomed over 8,000 students—not only from Brazil but also from Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Mexico, North America, Australia, Germany, and England.
We have worked with professionals from the third sector, the corporate world, and government agencies.
Our students have included biologists, agronomists, and forest engineers, as well as chemists, educators, lawyers, journalists, and professionals from many other fields.
They have ranged in age from 20 to 70.
Over these 30 years, we have collaborated with more than 30 different partners, including individuals, companies, and both governmental and non-governmental institutions.
Thirty years is a significant amount of time. Regions and lives can be transformed during this period, and our results demonstrate remarkable changes that have benefited—and continue to benefit—regions, people, and species.
Today, our alumni include CEOs, university professors, schoolteachers, NGO founders, landscape restorers, species conservation specialists, and social entrepreneurs. Some alumni even returned to work with us and are now instructors at our school.
Ultimately, our school strives to foster the conservation of life by empowering professionals who integrate the human element and nature into their ventures, actions, and visions for the future.
Given this diversity, we can affirm that there is indeed a need for education in sustainability. The paths involved are not straightforward, nor do they follow a standard curriculum; instead, they combine the ability to interact across different fields and bodies of knowledge, embracing multidisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity as the essence of learning—and, above all, of transformation.
We celebrate our 30th anniversary with you, grateful for your support and our shared belief in education. May our School continue its journey for many years to come within the unstoppable cycle of education—a source of ideas, achievements, and the new futures we envision.
Thank you for being with us
