The Sitio Bakal Community in Quezon City, Philippines is a very remote area with no proper and concrete road access which makes going to and from the school painstakingly difficult especially for the very young children. Everyday, these children had to endure a 30 to 45-minute walk. This project will complete the construction of a solar-powered Daycare Center in the Sitio Bakal Community providing access to Early Childhood Education for 50 young learners residing in the community.
The Sitio Bakal Community is located in a very remote area with no proper road access. Currently, there are young children ages 3-5 years old residing in the said community who had to endure walking for 30 to 45 minutes everyday just to go to school. This is a very difficult situation for them especially if it's rainy season as the road in the said community turns into a muddy path walk. This will be addressed by this project through the completion of the daycare center within the community.
The Daycare Center within the community will provide access to Early Childhood Care and Development or ECCD which plays a crucial role in the development of a child. Based on research, ECCD solidifies the foundation of a child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical well-being for the next life stages. According to UNICEF, ECCD shapes the trajectory of a child's future so it is imperative that this education be provided for every child regardless of socio-economic status in life.
The project will provide access to Early Childhood Care and Development to 50 children in the community enabling them to have a better opportunity to develop their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. It is proven by many studies that people who are provided with early childhood education have better chances to develop skills and knowledge allowing them contribute to social and economic development.
