We haven been giving scholarships for outstanding students for 50 years, it is time we have our own computer room!!! This project will build a computer Lab for our 60 students in Bogota, providing opportunities to integrate innovative complementary tools to our integral education program which guarantees low desertion rates for university students.
In Colombia only 38% of youg people have access to higher education. 42% of them end up dropping out duo to causes like imited resources, even when they have scholarships. For 50 years we have been providing tuition and living grants. We believe that in order to decrease desertion rates we need to have better resources: one of them being an optimal place to develop the projects they design so we can offer more scholarships.
By having a computer Lab with all the programs avaliable in our house, we are strengthening our community of knowledge and giving our students optimal conditions to get toghether with peers and work for our mission. This safe haven in our house will make them feel they belong to our support net, and the desertion rates we have been having after the pandemic will decrease.
This project will contribute to decrease our desertion rate: we will graduate our 60 grantees and they will continue to work in order to give long term sustainability to our program. We expect to keep giving scholarships for, at least, 50 more years so we need the tools to make this happen.
