Build a Community Library with 5,000 Books

Since the last report, the Community Library Project in Suleja has continued to build awareness and mobilize support toward the establishment of a fully equipped community library with 5,000 books. The project remains in the fundraising and community mobilization phase, with the financial target still being the most urgent priority. To date, the project has raised $1 toward the $50,000 goal, leaving $49,999 to be secured. We are focusing on expanding donor outreach, pursuing education-focused grants, and encouraging recurring monthly contributions to create a more sustainable funding base.

Community engagement has also helped us identify children who are eager to learn but have very limited access to books outside school. One child we encountered, a young learner from Suleja, regularly relies on borrowed school materials because there are few books available at home. Stories like hers continue to reinforce why this project is urgently needed.

At this stage, the project has directly engaged and supported approximately 20 community members through awareness, consultation, and mobilization activities, while the planned library is expected to serve approximately 2,000 children annually once operational. Although construction and book procurement have not yet commenced because sufficient funding has not been secured, the project remains active and focused on reaching the fundraising target needed to begin implementation. The immediate priority is to increase financial support so that the library can move from planning into construction, book acquisition, staffing, and community programming.
