Dear Family, we hope you are all doing great This month is very special one for Guatemala and its people. On September the 15th, Guatemalans celebrated 200 years of independence from the Spanish.
And our staff and our kids were excited about this day also because it fell right in the middle of our GlobalGiving $50x50% Match week! So we have a big party at the school (following all rules of course).
The families came by to pick up their food baskets and we had a toy of each of the boys and girls and a blue and while cupcake for each in honor of the colors of the Guatemalan flag.
The funding week was a great success, we met, and then exceed our goal bringing in 235 individual donations (for a total of $13,500 raised and 13 new monthly donors signing up) and since we are 100% crowdfunded we were super appreciative of all the support. Attached are some photos of the day.
In the meantime we continue working with our families and kids with their homework and grocery basket deliveries. We also happy to tell you that we can take care of their emotional and sometimes health problems as part of our work with your support.
About us:
The Integral Heart Family School is 100% crowdfunded. We currently have 255 individuals whose monthly and annual donations support our work. The core team of Sustaining Sponsors raises about one half of the total funds needed to operate our school and programs.
Education is the heart of our work. Our school is home to 80 children receiving classes in Spanish, English, Psychology, Human Rights, Homework Help, Art and serves 1,500 meals monthly. Since 2011, our programs have delivered classes and support to over 1,200 students and their families in Guatemala. We have also provided over 2,500 food baskets to our 40 sponsored families.
