Children in Wae Kuse cross a fragile wooden bridge every day to reach school. Human Initiative will build a safe 16-meter steel suspension bridge connecting Siru and Waiwaku Villages, helping students, teachers, farmers, and families access education, work, and essential services safely.
Children in Wae Kuse must cross a fragile, unsafe wooden bridge every day to reach school. Heavy rain and river currents often damage the bridge, limiting access to education, farms, and essential services for students, teachers, farmers, and families.
This project will build the Wae Kuse Suspension Bridge, a permanent 16-meter steel bridge connecting Siru and Waiwaku Villages. The bridge will provide safe and reliable access for students, teachers, farmers, and families, reducing the risks of crossing the river and improving access to education, livelihoods, healthcare, and other essential services.
The Wae Kuse Suspension Bridge will provide lasting safe access to education, healthcare, markets, and public services for more than 2,100 people. By reducing travel risks and improving connectivity, the bridge will help increase school attendance, strengthen local economic activities, support farmers' livelihoods, and create greater opportunities for future generations in Siru and Waiwaku Villages.
