Dear Friend,
In many rural schools across Uganda, a single classroom often holds far more than it was ever meant to. It is not uncommon to find 80, 100, or even more pupils squeezed onto a few benches—some sitting on the floor, others learning from outside through open windows.
For children like Peter, learning in such conditions is a daily struggle. There is little space to write, limited interaction with teachers, and constant noise and distraction. Teachers do their best, but overcrowding makes it difficult to give each child the attention they need. Slowly, motivation fades, performance drops, and some children give up altogether.
Education should be a place of growth, not limitation.
The root of this challenge is clear: there are simply not enough classrooms to meet the growing number of learners in rural communities.
Development Alert is calling on compassionate supporters to help change this reality by building more classrooms for rural learners. Safe, spacious, and well-equipped classrooms will reduce overcrowding, improve learning conditions, and give every child a fair chance to succeed.
A classroom is more than walls and a roof—it is a space where dreams are nurtured and futures are shaped.
Join us in creating better learning environments.
Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind simply because there wasn’t enough space to learn.
