Firefighters have been battling blazes across the province since June, destroying homes and displacing many families. People from low-income, rural, and marginalized communities tend to have less access to support, which means they also tend to bear the brunt of the long-term impact. Local nonprofits also tend to be overlooked and underfunded.
All donations to this fund will support wildfire relief and recovery efforts in British Columbia, Canada. Initially, the fund helps first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter. As needs emerge, we will support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the impacted area(s), particularly those working with low-income, historically underserved communities.
How Your Donation Will Be Used
When you donate to GlobalGiving'sBritish Columbia Wildfire Relief Fund, your donation will be used to:
- Provide food and emergency medical supplies to people and animals
- Support temporary relief and emergency supplies for displaced families
- Provide support to front-line workers, like meal cards for firefighters
- Meet other needs that emerge
