Vietnam lacks a national cervical cancer program, leaving thousands of women at risk. Unless new programs like ours are launched, it is projected that 380,000 women in Vietnam will develop cervical cancer by 2049. With your help, HERHealthEQ and CureCervicalCancer plans to launch a cervical cancer treatment program on Aug 1, 2019 in the Hue province of Vietnam to screen and provide treatment for 7,000 women over the next two years with two clinics and one mobile service.
Right now, women are being screened in Hue province, but thermocoagulation treatment is not available for women who have positive test results. Without treatment, the cancer will progress and they will no longer be able to live healthy, active, and productive lives. Currently they would need to travel long distances to where treatment might be available. Cervical cancer is a very treatable cancer when detected early with a simple 3-5 minute procedure.
HERHealthEQ will be donating 3 Thermocoagulation devices for three health centers so that they can treat these women and save their lives. With the Vietnamese Midwives Association, 20 midwives will be trained to use these devices, putting the treatment in the hands of those on the front lines of women's health in Vietnam. We anticipate that the 3 clinics combined with mobile outreach will screen 7,000 women in the first 2 years of this program.
Healthy women = healthy families = productive communities. A single thermocoagulation device can be used to treat women for several years - so each donation can go a long way. This program will screen at least 3,500 women each year, and will continue for several years impacting thousands of families. Speed is essential in managing cervical cancer. These women will be able to live healthy, productive lives, send their children to school, and contribute to their communities.
