We live in a world where technological evolution is in the forefront of everything. We are in a space that is constantly evolving. Therefore, as Reach For a Dream we believe in the power of making dreams come true even in these changing times. We have worked hard to fulfil the dreams of children fighting life-threatening illnesses in South Africa for 34 years.
The Reach For A Dream VR kit boasts a state-of-the-art world-class virtual reality headset, branding and placement case, VR Cover facial interface and foam replacement, Hyperkin Universal VR Masks, as well as skin friendly HMD cleaning wipes – which is neatly packed in a hard travel case with foam.
“Through virtual reality the boundaries of space and time are eliminated allowing the children to dream further and reach higher imaginary heights. Where there is freedom for escapism and creativity. The idea is not to replace the actual dream, but to make otherwise impossible dreams experiences come true with the power of VR at the same time ensuring the safety of our dreamers. While ultimately enabling our dream children to dream bigger through an out of body experience.”

Initially Virtual Reality was introduced to keep the morale of the kids fighting life threatening illness during the pandemic and beyond. Virtual Reality has been integrated in our Dream Rooms because of its capability to connect the children’s dream in virtual reality, the kids can join one another on an adventure and even interact with family and friends elsewhere.

The integration of Virtual Reality is a typical example of the use of Information Technology and Communication to ensure that the children’s s mental stimulation and developmental milestones are met regardless of their illnesses.

Virtual Reality Progress Feedback
By Natalie Lazaris | Project Manager

Virtual reality has stretched the foundation’s horizons to what is possible for the future. Virtual Reality was introduced to keep the morale of the kids fighting life threatening illness. VCR enable the kids to escape their world and experience dolphins, airplanes and rollercoasters while they are still confirmed in the comfort and safety of their hospital bed.
Virtual reality it is a three-dimensional environment created by a computer that is designed to be realistic and immersive. Usually, a person puts on a headset to see and hear this all-encompassing artificial world. Just as in real life, the perspective and view changes as the body moves. Virtual Reality also has the capability to connect the children’s dream in virtual reality, the kids can join one another on an adventure and even interact with family and friends elsewhere. The foundation has also equipped some of the “Dream Rooms” with play zones filled educational toys – in other pediatric wards around South Africa.
This is the feedback from one of our dreamers who has experience Virtual Reality “The headsets make you forget that you are in a hospital.“Thato said he went to this incredible place and the experience was real. According to our dreamer the experience brings a sense of peace, happiness and joy.”
