Giving youth the opportunity to choose!

By Joseph Raju | Secretary, SPPD

We want to THANKYOU for supporting us abundantly and it is through your eagerness that our girls are now under placements.

Through our programme we have been able to reach this targeted population, poor, less educated, early school drop outs especially women and girls and encourage them to progress and change their lifestyle in this society.

Besides, English Coaching class in basic reading, writing and speaking skills were taken up by Native language speaker Ms.Lora, Volunteer to help our students improve their language proficiency and basic computer classes in Microsoft word were also part and parcel of the day.

We believe that through our working together we can make a difference in the lives of people around us!

CASE STUDIES

Sangeetha, 17 years old comes from a family of five. She resides at Periyavelaganatham, Musiri Block, Trichy District of Tamilnadu State, INDIA. Her parents are working for daily wages.  She has an elder brother Ganeshan who had to forgo schooling because of family’s financial constraints, is now a construction labourer and a moral support to the family, a younger sister, Gokila studying Grade V. Both of them are solely dependent on their parents, whose income was quite sufficient to manage the family’s basic needs.  Born unto a poor family, full filling the basic amenities of life was a point of issue to them. However the driving vigor in educating the children has earned the entire work hours of their parents

Sangeetha,  is now pursuing her Paramedical Course. This support will help her live an independent life as well as support her family financially.

“My parents were impoverished to the point that they could not afford the books and studies that I needed.  My grades were weak in English which was the fundamental for the Course that I was enrolled to.  With the ongoing support from GlobalGiving and encouragement from the training tutor, staff and management, I was able to continue by studies.”
