Manikandan
Manikandan’s family was living in the state of Kerala as his father was working in the tea plantations located at Thekkady. There he had got married to another woman and being an alcoholic, Manikandan’s fath-er used to verbally and physically abuse his mother every day under the influence of alcohol. His mother having become a mental wreck due to this kind of domestic violence she had moved back to T. Pettai near Musiri, her native place along with her two sons. She works as a daily wage labourer taking up odd jobs here to support her family.
Here Manikandan her elder son had the opportunity to undergo the two year diploma course in Hospitality. During the first year of the course Manikandan under went internship at “Grand Thekkady” a reputed hotel at the hill station of Thekkady and in the second year Manipal Hotel at Bangalore in the second year. While undergoing the course due to the benevolence of the donors of GlobalGiving, he was receiving lunch on every working day of the institute, a set of free uniform apart from the cost of bus fare. Manikandan could pay a major part of the course fee from the income he received during his internships. This has gone a long way in reducing the burden of Manikandan’s mother while ensuring a secured and dignified livelihood and career for him. He along with his mother and the younger brother studying 8th grade profusely thank the donors of GlobalGiving for making it a possibility.

The elder brother of Dhinesh had met with a road accident and died. His father had to spend on the hospitalization post accident. This had forced his father to borrow heavily.
Under such very difficult circumstances, his father had decided to involve his younger son Dhinesh who had completed his 12 year school studies by then his milk vending business due to the heavy financial strain. But due to hard convincing of the team , Dhinesh had joined the course of Hospitality. The perks of free lunch, bus fare from home, uniform and the accident insurance have proved to be highly helpful for Dhinesh in completing his two year vocational skill studies.
