Thank you so much for your donation! Our goal for 2015 is $5,000 to fund six more water systems that provide safe drinking water for preschool and primary school children in rural schools in Vietnam. Along with providing the water systems, community leaders help educate children and their families about the importance of safe water in preventing disease and illness, sanitation and hygiene education, and food safety. They’ll be able to share this new knowledge and promote healthy hygiene habits that will help decrease sickness from water-borne diseases in rural areas. Healthy kids stay in school to complete their education instead of being at home due to illness and sickness. Your donation does more than providing water stations: it truly provides hope and a chance for a healthy future for many children and families. So far we are almost at $1,000: we can't make this project successful without you!
Current Project Status: New Partnerships!
Earlier this month, MEDRIX Executive Director LaRelle Catherman and Project Managers Pham Thi Thu Ha and Alicia Moore visited a rural hospital in Phu Loc district in Thua Thien-Hue province where all of MEDRIX safe water projects are undertaken. The hospital director at Cho Ray Hospital expressed great interest and passion in receiving hygiene and safe water education materials to teach to the many patients who travel to Cho Ray Hospital for their care. Since being built in 2013, the hospital leadership has worked tirelessly to reach out to the community who might be hesitant to travel a long distance to the hospital for their primary care. The leadership strives to be a friendly and caring point of contact in the Phu Loc community, and as a result has seen more and more patients visit the hospital for more general care instead of just emergencies. Sharing MEDRIX experience and knowledge in hygiene education will greatly benefit Cho Ray Hospital and the entire Phu Loc district, and we are excited to start partnering with them soon!
In 2015, MEDRIX is putting more emphasis on the education of children and families regarding safe water and hygiene to decrease illness from water-borne diseases. This education is so crucial because without it, installing water systems is only a temporary solution. These kids deserve more than just a temporary relief: they deserve a future full of opportunity that comes from being able to stay in school and learn healthy habits that will truly transform their communities.
