Bring Safe Water to School Kids in Vietnam

Thank you so much for your donation! Our goal for 2015 is $5,000 to fund six more water systems that provide safe drinking water for preschool and primary school children in rural schools in Vietnam. Along with providing the water systems, community leaders help educate children and their families about the importance of safe water in preventing disease and illness, sanitation and hygiene education, and food safety. They’ll be able to share this new knowledge and promote healthy hygiene habits that will help decrease sickness from water-borne diseases in rural areas. Healthy kids stay in school to complete their education instead of being at home due to illness and sickness. Your donation does more than providing water stations: it truly provides hope and a chance for a healthy future for many children and families.                                                                                             

Where Your Donation Dollars Go

MEDRIX has partnered with the Department for Preventative Health in Hue, Vietnam for several years. Candidate schools in Vietnam have most of their populations living with incomes near the poverty line. Our successful installations and sustainable operations during the past three years strongly convinced us that we were following the right approach. Our 14 previous installations in schools all continue to operate successfully, and improve the sanitation habits of countless children from the communities.

In 2014, MEDRIX installed six new water systems to promote safe drinking water in schools. The systems varied in size depending on school size. Since the schools operate for 11 months of the year, it is important to install systems that will effectively and reliably provide safe drinking water for the students. In our calculations, this project’s cost is about $1 per student per month.

In 2015, MEDRIX is putting more emphasis on the education of children and families regarding safe water and hygiene to decrease illness from water-borne diseases. This education is so crucial because without it, installing water systems is only a temporary solution. These kids deserve more than just a temporary relief: they deserve a future full of opportunity that comes from being able to stay in school and learn healthy habits that will truly transform their communities.
