Munigi/Ngangi – North Kivu, DRC
1. Background and Rationale
The village of Munigi, in the Ngangi area of North Kivu, currently hosts 25,650 internally displaced people who have fled armed conflict. Most are women, children, and elderly persons. These families live without access to safe drinking water and are forced to walk long distances—often at night—to collect unsafe water.
This situation exposes them to serious waterborne diseases, sexual and gender-based violence, and deepens poverty, trauma, and loss of human dignity in an already war-affected region.
