TODOS PELA EDUCAÇÃO - ALL FOR EDUCATION
2022: a year of decisive choices for the present and future of Brazilian Basic Education
At the beginning of this very decisive year for Brazil, All For Education makes a special invitation for 2022: to take advantage of the electoral debate and discuss the future of the country in depth - and for All For Education, there is only a promising future if we have quality basic education for all children and young people. This means debating and committing to a concrete agenda that reconciles structural challenges with emergency and long-term responses, including the effects of the pandemic in Education.
For Todos, the bet for the future is this: Education Now 2022: contributions to the construction of a systemic agenda for Brazilian Basic Education.
Check out what we did in the first quarter.
PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE
We work to change the quality of Basic Education in Brazil and, to this end, we produce knowledge, compile and analyze data and information, make diagnoses, and, always based on evidence, formulate educational public policies.
EDUCATION 2022
With the support of specialists and other civil society organizations, we have produced Educação Já 2022: contribuições para a construção de uma agenda sistêmica para a Educação Básica Brasileira. Sent to a wide range of political players, the document will be launched at the All for Education Annual Meeting, on April 26. The agenda includes recommendations for emergency actions, to mitigate the effects of the pandemic in Basic Education, and proposals for structural measures, articulated in a systemic way, to raise the quality of Basic Education and reduce inequalities in the country's educational systems.
>> Education Now 2022 is directly linked to Todos's organizational goal of implementing "Education Now 2022" in all its aspects - technical, political, and mobilization.
MOBILIZATION OF KEY ACTORS
One of the missions of Todos is to mobilize and articulate with the public authorities and key players the agenda of Brazilian Basic Education.
COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION
We have been all over the country, from north to south, raising the awareness of municipal public administrators about the importance of prioritizing Basic Education, with the Commitment to Education program. The first edition of the program, launched in 2021, came to an end in the first quarter of 2022, reaching its main goal: municipalities from all regions of Brazil engaged in an agenda that prioritizes Public Basic Education. In a satisfaction survey conducted by Todos, 97% of the participants said they would recommend the training to other public administrators. New waves of Commitment to Education are planned for the coming months, and efforts continue so that more municipalities can receive the Seal.
In numbers:
- 290 municipalities received the Seal of Commitment to Education
- 23 Brazilian states reached
SNE APPROVED IN THE SENATE
In March, the Senate ratified the beginning of a historic moment when it approved the Complementary Law Project that institutes the National Education System (SNE), the result of a long and deep debate over the past years among parliamentarians, educators, specialists, and civil society organizations such as All for Education. The SNE gives Brazil the tools to guarantee the right to quality public education for all.
Understand here the main changes brought by the SNE, which now needs to be approved by the House of Representatives.
>> The approval of the SNE is directly linked to Todos's organizational goal of continuing the projects already consolidated and the high-impact fronts started in 2021 and directly related to the advancement of Education Now.
PUBLIC MONITORING
We promote the monitoring of results and implementation processes of educational policies.
IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC ON CHILDREN'S LITERACY
A technical note produced by Todos showed the size of the pandemic's impact on Brazilian public education. Produced based on the continuous Pnad from 2012 to 2021, the note recorded the 66.3% increase in the number of 6- and 7-year-old children who, according to their guardians, could not read and write. The number went from 1.4 million in 2019 to 2.4 million in 2021. The content was featured in the national and international press (see below).
