Give Income Generation to Youth with Disabilities

Recently, Uhambo wrapped up a pilot project in Vredenburg, South Africa to work with older youth with disabiitiles and develop a stimulation kit that is designed for their needs. The pilot was a great success and highlights included:

• Introducing a participant who is deaf, to basic sign language. His caregivers and family will be trained to communicate through sign language which will greatly improve his quality of life
• Identifying specific activities for students who have very low motivation to participate; their participation greatly increased thanks to the kit's activities!
• An outing to the community public library has led to bimonthly visits now to the library!

Thanks to your support, Uhambo's Ndinogona Stimulation Program, has been invited to the Zero Project on Inclusive Education in February in Vienna to present at the conference! The Zero Project is convened by the Essl Foundation, the World Future Council and the European Foundation Centre at the UN in Vienna, Austria and will:

• highlight 100 Innovative Policies and Innovative Practices concerning Inclusive Education from around the world
• organize events, workshops and panels
• gather 500 decision makers and opinion leaders from more than 70 countries
