Bring on the Books Summer 2016 Report

By Hediya Sizar | Executive Director

2016 Book Drive
2016 Book Drive

Bring on the Books has had quite a productive summer! We have launched the beta version of our app in tandem with an exciting initiative with the Office of Renewal Schools, a branch of the NYC Department of Education to help bridge the access-to-books gap between high and low-income youth. We  are proud to announce that we raised over 100 books with our app, all of which will be directed to renewal schools and shelters across NYC. In the fall, we will continue working with the Office of Renewal Schools to reach our goal of 1000 books raised. You can help Bring on the Books meet this goal by downloading our app and donating to any of the schools or shelters that Renewal Schools is partnered with!

Bring on the Books would like to thank you for your generous contributions! With your help, we were able to make further updates to our app to improve user experience and flow. The updates, including a new calendar scheduling system and an improved search feature, will be released in mid-September. Also with your donations, we are hosting a Mind + Body Drive this October. We will partner with F.I.T. 4 All, a fitness-based nonprofit to provide children’s books and fitness wear to low-income youth in Lower Manhattan. Donations will benefit the The Door, Harlem Children’s Zone, Bella Vista Community Center and the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center.

Once again Bring on the Books would like to extend our thanks for your continued support! Keep an eye out for all of the exciting new things we have planned for the fall!
