Dear friends and supporters,
The photo above is of a young woman named Pauni who lives in Kenya. She is one of the recipients of a Brilliant is Beautiful scholarship grant given to an organization called Many Hopes, an organization that rescues children from poverty and abuse and raises them with an imagination for justice and the tools to act on it. Because of your support, Pauni lives in the MUDZINI KWETU GIRLS' HOME compound. The homes are designed to make girls feel like what they are: members of a family, not orphans in an institution. Each family home has four bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, housemother and family of mixed-age girls. This is Pauni's home and Pauni's family until she chooses to leave and make her own life somewhere else. Not only does Pauni have a safe place to live, but she also began school again in January thanks to the Brilliant is Beautiful scholarship. We're so happy to see her thriving!
Since the Brilliant is Beautiful Fund began, we have been able to sponsor over 1500 girls' scholarships in Kenya, Peru, Pakistan, Uganda, and of course at the Academy for Peace and Justice in Haiti. We're grateful to the organizations Many Hopes, Happy Hearts Fund, Iqra Fund, and HopeNorth for being our partners in this important work and sharing our values of educating young women and girls in some of the toughest places on the planet.
We look forward to continuing to work with our partner organizations and to sustain our programs on the ground in Haiti with your support. On that note, please Save the Date: our next Brilliant is Beautiful Gala will be held at Claridge's in London on December 1, 2017!
We hope to see you there.
With gratitude,
Artists for Peace and Justice
