Bright Minds, Healthy Bites in Piruaj Bajo

During this period, we have continued our Healthy Snack Program in Piruaj Bajo, reaching 40 children with nutritious food that supports their growth, well-being, and ability to learn. The program provides children with healthy snacks on a regular basis, helping address nutritional deficiencies while creating a supportive environment for education.

This year, we have also expanded the program to the nearby rural community of Manijnioj, one of the most isolated communities in the region. Manijnioj has no school building, and until just three months ago, the community did not have a teacher. As a result, the children spent almost an entire year without access to regular education.

Although a teacher has now been appointed, we believe it is essential to accompany the children during this transition. Cynnal has therefore begun implementing its literacy program in Manijnioj, helping children recover lost learning time and strengthen their reading and writing skills.

The educational program is complemented by our Healthy Snack Program, because nutrition and learning are closely connected. Providing children with a nutritious snack helps them remain focused and engaged during educational activities, while also contributing to their overall health and development.

The challenges faced by Manijnioj are particularly significant. The community is extremely isolated: there are no roads accessible by regular vehicles, no electricity, no access to safe drinking water, and no internet connectivity. These conditions make access to education and other basic services extremely difficult.

By bringing literacy support and healthy food directly to the community, Cynnal is helping ensure that children do not continue to be left behind because of where they live. Our goal is not only to provide immediate assistance, but to accompany the community as it strengthens its educational opportunities and improves the conditions in which children can learn and grow.
