In 2025, doctorSHARE’s four Floating Hospitals continued to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities living in remote and underserved island and coastal areas of Indonesia. Across the year, the four vessels reached 27,203 beneficiaries through medical consultations, specialist services, maternal and child health care, dental care, surgeries, health education, and other services. The Floating Hospitals operated across areas including Papua, Southwest Papua, the Riau Islands, Southeast Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan, helping communities access services that are often difficult to reach because of distance, limited transportation, and shortages of healthcare professionals.

RSK Nusa Waluya II, doctorSHARE’s barge-based Floating Hospital, reached 13,317 beneficiaries through services in Yapen Timur and Waigeo Utara. The hospital provided a broad range of services, including general and specialist consultations, maternal and child health and obstetric services, dental care, emergency care, inpatient services, and surgical procedures. In addition to direct medical care, health education and other community activities were conducted during the visits. RSK dr. Lie Dharmawan II, one of doctorSHARE’s Phinisi Floating Hospitals, reached 4,728 beneficiaries across eight service locations in the Riau Islands, Southeast Sulawesi, and Jakarta. Services included general and specialist consultations, dental and maternal health services, surgeries, health education, and training for local healthcare workers.

Two newer Phinisi vessels further expanded doctorSHARE’s reach in 2025. RSK dr. Lie Dharmawan III, which began operating in 2025, reached 6,142 beneficiaries and provided 83 major surgeries and 224 minor surgeries, alongside outpatient and health promotion services. RSK dr. Lie Dharmawan Bayan Peduli, inaugurated on July 26, 2025, provided services in three locations in East Kalimantan (Manubar, Maloy, and Sandaran) and reached 3,016 beneficiaries.

Beyond providing direct medical treatment, doctorSHARE continued to use the Floating Hospitals as platforms for strengthening local healthcare capacity and promoting healthier communities. Healthcare workers received training and opportunities to work alongside visiting medical specialists, while health education activities helped communities increase their knowledge of health and wellbeing. The Junior Doctor program also engaged children in service areas through activities on healthy living, hygiene, and oral health. Through this combination of direct care, capacity building, and health promotion, doctorSHARE continued to work toward a more sustainable approach to improving access to healthcare in Indonesia’s remote islands.
