BreathEasy: First Steps

By Guillaume Lefebvre | Project leader

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being among the supporters of BreathEasy, our programme created to help vulnerable people living with chronic respiratory diseases stay active, confident, and connected from home. Many older adults affected by breathing difficulties face a difficult cycle: reduced mobility, fear of effort, isolation, loss of confidence, and a higher risk of hospitalisation. BreathEasy was designed to help break this cycle by offering free, accessible, adapted physical activity and breathing exercises online.

Since launching the project on GlobalGiving, our team has focused on preparing the foundations of the programme. As BreathEasy is still in its early fundraising phase, the first contributions are helping us prepare the tools, content, and partnerships needed to begin implementation. We are working on adapted exercise content, breathing routines, self-check tools, and online formats that can be followed safely from home.

For many people living with chronic respiratory disease, even gentle movement can feel difficult or overwhelming. That is why BreathEasy is not only about exercise. It is also about helping people rebuild confidence, understand their limits, create a healthy routine, and feel less alone. Through small and regular movements, participants will be supported to improve their breathing, strength, independence, and overall quality of life.

In the coming months, we will continue developing the online classes, exercise videos, educational resources, and peer-support elements of the programme. We will also work on reaching participants and partners so that BreathEasy can become a practical and accessible tool for people living with chronic respiratory diseases.

Thank you for helping us take these first important steps.
