Every Child Deserves a Safe School

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

Help Us Make Schools Safe for Every Student

For many children, going to school should mean learning, making friends, discovering their potential, and dreaming about their future. But for some students in Makurdi, school can also be a place where they experience bullying, intimidation, harassment, emotional abuse, or other forms of violence.

And too often, they suffer in silence.

Fear of retaliation, stigma, embarrassment, or not knowing where to seek help can prevent students from reporting what they experience or witness. When violence goes unreported, its effects can continue long after the incident—affecting a student's confidence, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and ability to learn.

Our Protecting Students from Bullying & Violence project is working to change this.

We have begun sensitizing students in schools across Makurdi about bullying, violence, gender-based violence, emotional wellbeing, conflict resolution, and the importance of speaking up and seeking help.

But we cannot stop at awareness.

We want to reach 3,500 students, train 100 teachers and counselors, establish 20 peer-support clubs, and provide psychosocial support to 150 vulnerable students.

Your support can help us take these next steps.

With your donation, we can help students recognize harmful behaviours, understand their rights, know where to report concerns, and develop the confidence to seek help when they need it.

We can also equip teachers and counselors to become stronger safeguarding champions within their schools.

Every child deserves a school where they feel safe. Every child deserves to be heard. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn without fear.

Please join us in creating safer schools in Makurdi.

Your support today can help protect a child tomorrow.
