Every child deserves to go to school feeling safe, respected, and supported.
But for many students in Makurdi, Benue State, school can be a place where they experience bullying, intimidation, emotional abuse, sexual harassment, and other forms of violence. Too often, these experiences remain hidden because students are afraid to speak up, do not know where to seek help, or fear being stigmatized.
We believe this must change.
Through our Protecting Students from Bullying & Violence project, we are working with schools in Makurdi to create safer and more inclusive learning environments where students can learn without fear and have the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to protect themselves and others.
We have already begun this work through school sensitization activities, engaging students in important conversations about bullying, violence, gender-based violence, emotional wellbeing, conflict resolution, and the importance of speaking up and seeking help.
But awareness is only the beginning.
We need your support to take this work further.
With your partnership, we aim to:
Sensitize 3,500 students on bullying prevention, violence, GBV, emotional wellbeing, and child protection.
Train 100 teachers and counselors to better identify, prevent, and respond to safeguarding concerns.
Establish 20 peer-support clubs where students can promote kindness, inclusion, peaceful conflict resolution, and peer support.
Provide psychosocial support to 150 vulnerable students who may be experiencing the effects of violence, trauma, or emotional distress.
Strengthen school reporting and safeguarding systems so that students know where to turn when they experience or witness abuse.
Engage schools, families, and community stakeholders to build sustainable commitment to student safety and wellbeing.
Your donation can help turn these plans into lasting action.
A contribution to this project is more than financial support. It is an investment in a child's right to learn in safety. It helps us create opportunities for students to understand their rights, find their voice, seek help without shame, and become part of the solution to violence in their schools.
Imagine a student who once suffered in silence becoming confident enough to report abuse.
Imagine a teacher recognizing the warning signs of a vulnerable child and knowing how to respond.
Imagine students choosing empathy and peaceful conflict resolution instead of intimidation and violence.
That is the future we are working to build.
We invite you to stand with us and support the Protecting Students from Bullying & Violence project.
Your generosity can help us reach more students, strengthen more schools, support vulnerable children, and build safer learning environments where every young person has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Please donate today and help us protect a child from bullying and violence.
Together, we can help make schools places of safety, dignity, hope, and opportunity—not fear.
Thank you for standing with students in Makurdi and for believing that every child deserves to be protected.
