Stigma is one of the biggest barriers to seeking help for mental health challenges, especially for victims of bullying and GBV. According to the World Health Organization, fewer than one in five Nigerian adolescents with mental health issues receive any kind of support.
Our project addresses this head-on by integrating mental health education into school life. Through awareness campaigns, peer clubs, and teacher training, we normalize conversations about emotional wellbeing and encourage students to seek help without shame.
We also provide direct psychosocial support to 150 at-risk students, ensuring every child has access to care without fear of judgment. By transforming how mental health is viewed, we empower students to support themselves and each other.
Your donation helps break the silence and build a school culture where strength is found in seeking help, not hiding pain. Join us in turning stigma into strength for Makurdi’s youth.
