Mental health is often overlooked in Nigerian schools, yet depression and anxiety are rising among adolescents exposed to violence and bullying (UNICEF, 2022). In Makurdi, many affected students develop PTSD symptoms—withdrawal, aggression, and academic decline.
Our project will provide psychosocial support to 150 vulnerable students, creating pathways for healing and resilience. Peer-support clubs will help destigmatize mental health challenges, encouraging students to seek help and support one another.
Teacher and counselor training will ensure early identification and intervention, while awareness campaigns will reach the entire school community.
Your donation supports this vital safety net, giving vulnerable students the tools and support they need to heal and thrive. Together, we can make mental health a priority in Makurdi’s schools.
