In Nigeria, the prevalence of bullying, gender-based violence, and trauma in schools has reached alarming heights. According to a 2019 UNICEF study, more than half of Nigerian children have experienced violence at school. In Makurdi, the rate spikes even higher, with 80% of students reporting bullying or abuse.
This project introduces a holistic approach—training 100 teachers, equipping 3,500 students with emotional and conflict-resolution skills, and establishing 20 peer-support clubs. We’ll also provide psychosocial support to 150 of the most at-risk students, ensuring no child is left behind.
Peer-led clubs will drive a culture shift: students supporting one another, speaking out against abuse, and fostering inclusion. With improved systems for reporting incidents, we’ll make it easier for students’ voices to be heard and acted upon.
Your support fuels this transformation, enabling us to scale our approach and reach every corner of Makurdi LGA. You’ll help institutionalize child protection, strengthen teacher capacity, and create a model for safe, inclusive education that can be replicated across Nigeria.
Join us in building schools where every student is safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.
