This project enables youths in Rural Rwanda to earn a living through traditional Dancing and create a source of income to fight poverty in their families. The income earned is used to pay school fees for their younger ones, health insurance and basic needs as their parents are not able to do pay for them because of poverty and some are orphans. We believe dancing will not only transform their lives but will also resonate in the community as it engages more youth.
High unemployment and lack of skills in Rural Rwanda is a major challenge that has resulted to extreme poverty in rural Rwanda and many youths' involvement in prostitution, robbery and drug abuse in the community that puts them at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS. This has additionally created a group gangs that are negatively influencing the younger generations into these negative habits.
By supporting the Dance troop to acquire the required dancing material will provide them with a competitive edge to perform at various paid events and be an alternative to breaking the chains of poverty, become a positive influence in the community for younger generations and strengthen the Rwandan culture in the community.
The project will enable the full establishment of the dance troop locally and enable the dance troop to create a continuous flow of income to the dance troop members. Additionally, group aims at expanding and recruit more youths in the area into the dance troop to enable them gain an income and rise out of poverty.
