This project will save lives by facilitating the rescue and recovery of missing Yezidi women and children who have endured unimaginable trauma under ISIS captivity, with thousands still enslaved. Your donation will empower FYF to locate and identify these individuals, providing families with critical updates and support. Rescued survivors will receive comprehensive healing and mental health care services, ensuring a sustainable, survivor-centered reintegration into their communities.
ISIS's 2014 genocidal campaign against the Yezidi minority in Iraq led to mass executions, sexual violence, and enslavement. Over a decade later, more than 2,600 women and children remain missing, and survivors face profound trauma. For those who have returned, recovery is a major challenge, especially for those still in displacement. To date, no coordinated rescue efforts have been made by the Iraqi government or the international community to address this ongoing crisis.
FYF collaborates with local partners, authorities, and international organizations to locate and identify survivors still in captivity. Our coordinated, holistic approach ensures their safe recovery and provides vital resources for mental health support and livelihoods. By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, we help survivors rebuild their lives, heal from years of trauma, and reunite with their families, empowering them to move forward with hope and dignity.
This project is key to justice and accountability for the Yezidi community's recovery. Each survivor's testimony is vital evidence in prosecuting those responsible for genocide and war crimes, advancing justice for the Yezidis. While FYF runs other projects focused on legal action and accountability, this initiative is crucial as the first step-bringing survivors home and offering them a path to healing and justice.
