Fauza Foundation Progress Report Dec - April

By Newton Mugeni | Project Director

Overview

Fauza Foundation continues to advance its mission of expanding access to education and skills development for underserved learners across multiple levels. During the reporting period, the Foundation supported learners at the Junior School level, as well as a student enrolled at the Polytechnic level.

In response to evolving educational and economic realities, the Foundation also facilitated access to computer study courses, equipping beneficiaries with essential digital skills that are increasingly critical in today’s job market.

A key highlight of this period was the mentorship program held during the Easter holiday. This brought together all learners—across Junior School, Polytechnic, and short-course levels—creating a unified platform for guidance, motivation, and peer learning.

 Impact

The Foundation’s interventions have yielded meaningful outcomes:

  • Enhanced Access to Education: Continued support has enabled 7 Junior School learners to remain in school and focus on their academic growth.
  • Technical Skill Development and Education Support: Three vocational technical students were enrolled in computer courses, with two successfully acquiring practical, employable skills that enhanced their workforce readiness, while one continues with training and is making steady progress. In addition, tuition support was provided for one student at a polytechnic institution, ensuring continuity of their studies and easing financial barriers to skill development.
  • Holistic Mentorship: The Easter mentorship program fostered personal development, confidence-building, and a sense of community among learners. It also provided career guidance and life skills essential for long-term success.
  • Digital Empowerment: Through computer studies, beneficiaries are becoming digitally literate, positioning them for opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.

 Challenges

Despite these positive strides, the Foundation continues to face financial constraints. Limited resources have made it difficult to transition all qualified learners to University-level education. As a result, the Foundation has strategically opted to support some beneficiaries through short courses that still provide valuable, market-relevant skills.

 Conclusion

Fauza Foundation remains committed to bridging educational gaps and empowering learners through both formal education and practical skill-building pathways. With increased support, the Foundation aims to expand its capacity to transition more learners into higher education while sustaining impactful programs such as mentorship and digital training.
