As the weather turns colder, we can hardly believe that the holiday season is just around the corner. Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada has much to celebrate –and we’d love to share some of our highlights with you all!
YOUth in Office: Job Shadowing Day on Parliament Hill
Just a few weeks ago, approx. 60 young people had the chance to learn about career opportunities from 40 Members of Parliament (MPs) on Parliament Hill! They spent the workday together as part of a joint initiative to inspire young people about the working world and some of the job options associated with politics and government in Canada. This unique opportunity of witnessing different roles and individuals in action was truly inspiring for youth to consider a range of career options and get excited about gaining the education and experience they need to succeed!
Game Tech
Game Tech continues to be a great success in all of our participating Clubs and continues to be one of the most popular programs offered. Throughout the fall, Clubs have been busy wrapping up their second 8-week fall program session, and the feedback couldn't be better! Children and youth have had a blast challenging each other to design creative new games, learn new skills and best of all, playing each other's video game masterpieces! Most Clubs also had a special event where they invited other members and their families to come in so they could showcase their amazing tech creations!
