2011 continues to be a great year for Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada! As the summer winds to a close and the Fall season grows nearer, we still have much to be excited about!
We are pleased to announce that in partnership with AMD, the Enhancing Technology for Canada’s Youth: Technology Centers and Game Tech Pilot programs are beginning to rollout.
The pilot Clubs have been selected - Congratulations to Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club and East Scarborough Boys & Girls Club! Both Clubs have received the required materials they need to launch the program(s) and will be commencing shortly. Once again, here is a snapshot of what these programs will look like:
Tech Centers
Technology centers will be established in select Clubs, creating an exciting environment where kids discover new interests in cutting-edge areas of technology such as digital arts, music, and web and graphic design.
Game Tech Program
Game Tech is a two-unit program utilizing principles of active learning to teach how to develop computer games. The curriculum is designed to expose Club members to a number of important skill sets – systems thinking, introductory programming concepts, principles of game design and the process of iterative design.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada are thrilled with this partnership and can’t wait to see how the program rolls out in these Clubs. The Clubs and its children and youth members are equally excited to start!
Once again, thank you for your continued support and for helping change the lives of thousands of children and youth by giving them hope for a brighter future.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the months ahead!
