It has been a great year so far for Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
This past year is one of continued growth in new programs and Clubs, an expansion of thriving initiatives and celebration of a few milestones.
Every day, Boys and Girls Clubs make our cities and towns better places to grow up and live in by tackling issues that are at the heart of every community. Our programs offer solutions to poverty, child obesity, school failure and dropout, community safety and crime, bullying and more – all issues that impact the well-being of children, youth and families. With your support, we are continuing to provide young people with a safe, supportive bridge in the community between school and home.
In partnership with AMD, the Enhancing Technology for Canada’s Youth: Technology Centers and Game Tech Pilot program will also be commencing in the months ahead once all participating Clubs receive their subsequent materials to launch the program(s). Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is thrilled with this partnership and is eager to get started! Here is a snapshot of what these programs will look like:
Tech Centers
Technology centers will be established in select Clubs, creating an exciting environment where kids discover new interests in cutting-edge areas of technology such as digital arts, music, and web and graphic design.
Game Tech Program
Game Tech is a two-unit program utilizing principles of active learning to teach how to develop computer games. The curriculum is designed to expose Club members to a number of important skill sets – systems thinking, introductory programming concepts, principles of game design and the process of iterative design.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and for helping change the lives of thousands of children and youth by giving them hope for a brighter future.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the months ahead!
